The Apache Helicopter (Boeing AH-64) is a 4-blade, twin-turboshaft attack helicopter with a top speed of 182 mph. The pilot sits behind and above the co-pilot/gunner. The Apache is fitted with night vision and a wide choice of armament. The craft has many redundancies and protections to enhance survival including such things as self-sealing fuel system and shielding between the cockpits. One of the revolutionary developments was the helmet mounted display. The Apache began official use in the Army in 1984.
